Can you add to an exposure later?
By Jerry Chen. Checked and updated November 1, 2026
Short answer: no, once you have discarded
No. Once you have exposed a group and discarded, it stays exactly as it is for the rest of the hand.
The detail
You can add to or take away from an exposure only during the same turn, before you redeem a joker or discard. For example, if you add a joker by mistake and turn a kong into a quint, you can take it back before you discard.
After your discard, you cannot turn a pung into a kong, or a quint into a sextet, or fix an exposure that was wrong.
That is why it pays to check the card before you put tiles up.
