Can you take back a tile you just discarded?
By Jerry Chen. Checked and updated November 1, 2026
Short answer: no
No. Once a discard is down, the player who threw it can never take it back or call it.
The detail
Players say "down is dead": the discard is dead to you. Any other player can still call it during the calling window, unless it is a joker.
There is no do-over for a regretted discard, even if it was the tile you needed.
